As the winter holidays approach, we invite you to reflect on the warmth and togetherness that this season brings.
At Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Montana, we are constantly reminded that our House is so much more than just a roof over heads. It’s a haven of hope and compassion, where families come together to navigate the challenges of caring for a sick child.
It’s So Much More Than a Meal.
Imagine a new mom walking across the parking lot, tears streaming down her face after a difficult day at the NICU. Feeling overwhelmed, Jessica told herself she wouldn’t eat or talk to anyone. But that night, as the Griz softball team cooked dinner, the enticing aroma drew her in. Surrounded by laughter and warmth, she found the strength to nourish not just her body, but her spirit. It was in that moment, as she shared a meal and conversation with the team, that she realized she wasn’t alone. Jessica left with her heart a little lighter and the energy to face the next day.
It’s So Much More Than a Shower.
For a mother of a six-year-old boy with lifelong health challenges, our House is a sanctuary where Shannon can let her guard down. In the privacy of a warm shower, she sheds tears that have been held back in front of others. Here, Shannon can be vulnerable, recharge, and find the strength to support her son through his toughest days.
It’s So Much More Than a Toy.
For the sibling of a child frequently in the hospital, a simple gift becomes a treasured memory. One mother reached out years later, sharing how her son Brandt still clings to the red fire truck he received from us—a symbol of kindness during his family’s most challenging times. That toy represented not just a moment of joy, but a reminder that he, too, was seen and cared for.
It’s So Much More Than a Place to Stay.
For fathers supporting their high-risk pregnant wives, our House offers peace of mind. Zach could work back home, knowing that his loved ones were safe, cared for, and surrounded by a community that understands. Being welcomed and loved on by supportive staff and volunteers whose kindness, energy, and affability was steadfast in a time of fear and waiting.
It’s So Much More Than Just Comfort.
Our House saves families a significant amount of money during an already stressful time. By providing a safe and comforting place to stay right near the hospital, we eliminate the burdensome costs of commuting back and forth from their hometowns to Missoula. This allows families like the Smith’s to focus on what truly matters without the added financial strain.
Your gift is so much more than a financial contribution
—it’s a lifeline.
We are fortunate to have the Ronald McDonald House in Missoula, Montana, providing crucial support to families during one of the scariest times a parent can face. This year, we served a record number of families. We need your help to continue this vital work.
It costs $125 per night to operate each guest room, and our families’ average stay is 21 nights. While some guests are able to contribute the suggested $25 per night donation, this financial burden is simply not possible for many. Every $100 you donate bridges the gap for one night for one family—ensuring they receive the support they need without worrying about the cost of a place to stay.
Without your generosity, the comforts of our home-away-from-home would not be possible. Your donation today ensures that families facing unimaginable challenges can find refuge and hope when they need it most. We never know when it might be the next me, or them — or you — needing help.
As RMHC Founder Audrey Evans stated, “we’re not just saving the babies of these very desperate families, we also need to save the families.” From the bottom of my heart, thank you. You are the epitome of care, particularly in hard times.
With tremendous gratitude,
Do you think it’s important to help families stay close during medical treatment?
